Telegram code not received — the real fixes, in order
Most of the time it's one of four things: the SMS is just delayed, the code went to a device you're already logged into instead of by text, you asked for too many codes too fast and got rate-limited, or the number was typed with the wrong country code. Each has an actual fix — none of them involve contacting a third party.
Check these first, in order
- Look at your other devices. If you're already logged into Telegram anywhere else (phone, desktop, web), the code often gets sent there as a message first, not by SMS. Check the Telegram app itself before assuming the SMS failed.
- Wait a few minutes. SMS delivery genuinely gets delayed, especially internationally. Telegram also offers "Call me" as an alternative a short wait after requesting SMS — use it instead of requesting SMS again.
- Double-check the number, including the country code. A wrong or missing country code sends the code nowhere useful. Re-enter the full international format.
- Check if you're rate-limited. Requesting a code too many times in a row makes Telegram delay the next one, on purpose — sometimes for a stated number of minutes, sometimes longer with repeated attempts. Requesting again immediately makes this worse, not better.
- Check spam or blocked numbers on your phone if you're on Android and use a call/SMS-blocking app — Telegram's sender ID sometimes gets filtered by these.
If none of that works
It's occasionally Telegram's SMS provider having delivery trouble with a specific carrier or country, not something on your end at all — this shows up in waves and usually resolves within hours. At that point, waiting and retrying with "Call me" is genuinely the best option, since there's no other channel to speed it up.
Anything offering to "force send" or "bypass" the code for a fee is not a real service. Only Telegram's own systems can send that code, and no third party has a way to speed it up or get around the wait. This kind of offer is after your phone number and any code you do receive — the two things needed to take over the account, not fix it.
Worth doing while you have access: keep a running copy of the chats that matter, outside the account itself. A bot connected through Telegram Business does that for the chats you pick, so a future login problem, ban, or lost number doesn't take the record of those conversations down with it.
